Getting to know me

My name is Emily Ramsey and I will be your child’s ESL teacher for this school year. I am a recent graduate of Union University. I graduated with a degree in Teaching English as a Second Language with a minor in education. This is my first year to be on my own in the classroom. I am excited to experience the joys and hardships of teaching.

As your child’s ESL teacher I will strive to incorporate various learning strategies into the classroom. It is important to do so in order to allow every student a chance to truly learn for comprehension. I believe it is important to also integrate some various cultural aspects from their home language into the classroom, so I will strive to do this as well. I also feel that it is important that no child be left straggling behind the class. It is important to me that I keep track of how the students are progressing. In order to do this, I will sent home progress reports with their grades and comments from me often throughout this year.

Teaching English as a Second Language is something that I have a great passion for. I am excited to finally be in the classroom working with my own set of students. I cannot wait to get to know each and every individual child and their families. If you ever need anything, or have questions/concerns, please let me know!

Thanks,

Field Trip Time!!

Thanks to a generous donation I was able to take the class on a field trip last week, as many of you know. We had an excellent time. We went to the Goodwill here in Jackson, TN. We explored the store while learning various English vocabulary words. We also reviewed our colors, shapes, and numbers. The kids were given fun games to play on line and worksheets to complete upon returning. These were all relevant to the words we had learned on our field trip. Some words were review for the students while some were brand new. I feel that this field trip was extremely beneficial and enjoyed by everyone who went. Thank you to those parents who were able to go as chaperons. Your help is greatly appreciated!
                     Thanks,
